Applications are now open for two scholarships for Rotorua residents who want to enrol for Speech New Zealand examinations towards the following qualifications: • Associate of Speech New Zealand in Speech and Drama Performance • Associate of Speech New Zealand in Speech and Drama Teaching • Associate of Speech New Zealand in Public Speaking and Communication Performance • Associate of Speech New Zealand in Public Speaking and Communication Teaching. Applicants must have completed at least two of the Grade 8 modules of Speech NZ examinations in Speech and Drama or Public Speaking. Each of the two successful applicants will be awarded a scholarship that will cover the Speech NZ examination fee for the seven modules of the Associate of Speech NZ examinations. The total value of each of these two scholarships is $710. The examination fee will be reimbursed on successful completion of each of the modules. Applicants who have already completed up to two modules towards Associate of Speech NZ are also eligible and will receive the examination fee for the modules that they have completed as well as for the modules they still have to complete. All payments of the scholarships will be made by direct credit to the scholarship holders’ bank accounts. The successful applicants will be required to be available for promotional interviews for the Geyser Community Foundation and for Speech New Zealand and information about their scholarships and progress will be used in promotional material for the two organisations. The successful candidates will be selected by a committee appointed by the Board of Speech NZ. Applications close on 19 November 2010.
